Follow the Prophet

President Nelson at Safeco Field

Hello Everyone!

This week has been a pretty decent one. Tuesday we had a District Meeting all about Repentance, and I felt really good in that one, and it got me to thinking a little more on how I can apply Repentance to myself. For those looking to learn a little more, I suggest reading Mosiah 27, which is what we read for a lot of District Meeting.

Wednesday, I went off to the temple, but I had kind of a shorter day. It was mostly a long day of raking out the Southwest lawn, getting it ready for seed.

Thursday, I had a pretty fun time in the FDC. A set of Sisters came in with one of their investigators(now recent convert)so they could start getting him acquainted with Family History. He was super excited, and really enjoyed the experience of the center. He told me when he was done that he was going to be bringing in his brother, who it sounds like was the family historian in the family. I also spent some time after they left doing some of my own work. I found a couple of my own pictures and a few things that I could type up into Family Search. It was pretty fun!

Friday, I went off to the temple again, and the project of the day was hydro-seeding the Southwest lawn. basically mixing a bunch of mulch, fertilizer, grass seed, water, and straw in a 300 gallon tank, and we sprayed it out of a big hose. The only problem that we had was the hose kept clogging up, so it took  a lot longer than it should have. In fact, we didn't finish the lawn, it kept clogging so bad.

Saturday was really awesome! So, in the morning and afternoon, I was working in the Discovery Center. First shift was dead, so I got more things onto Family Search. During the second shift though, we had two groups come in, and they had a great time. After that, I drove to downtown Seattle for a special Devotional at Safeco field. The speakers at this event were President Eyring, Sister Nelson, and President Nelson, Prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Oh my goodness, that was such an amazing event to be apart of! I learned so much, and the Spirit was super strong in that stadium.

A few things that I learned from there. First, there was a resounding theme throughout the devotional that the Prophet receives revelation for the Church as a whole. That does not mean that we should just take these revelations at face value, and just follow them blindly. We should take these things that the Prophet reveals to us, and ask the Lord about them, and ask Him how we can best apply them to ourselves. Another, the Lord loves our effort that we put in to following his commands. The story of Moses going up to Siani to talk with the Lord. The Lord didn't just tell Moses when he was halfway up the mountain, "Ok, that's far enough. Now, let's sit down and chat!". Nope. Moses needed to show that he was willing to listen and obey the Lord's command to go all the way up. One more thing that I thought was really cool, was Sister Nelson's talk in general. He whole talk was a testimony of President Nelson, and how he receives revelation. She shared a couple of cool stories about him getting some too. That was awesome. But I think i really felt the Spirit in that meeting the strongest when all 49,089 people in attendance stood, and sang "We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet". That was truly amazing. How wonderful it is that we have the privilege to be led by a living Prophet during these last days!

And Monday was a hard working day at the temple where we finished up the hydro-seeding project. Yay! After that project, I moved around a bunch of branches and blowed leaves around the parking lot. It was good. Well, that about sums it up for me. I hope that y'all have a most excellent week wherever you are at!
