Hello Everyone!
Well, it has been real. This was the last full week that my mission will be intact. Tomorrow, we will be officially known as the Illinois Chicago Mission. I guess that it is pretty cool though. Not everyone gets to serve in two missions.
So, Tuesday we started off going to see the Silvio's. This time, they were a bit more friendly to us, which was really cool. We also helped them get a tread mill out of their apartment and into their car, which was a feat in itself. A lot of prayers went into getting that thing to fit in the back of a mini van. A lot of finding happened after that. We actually ran into one of our former investigators while he was in his car, so we got him while he was trapped. We should be seeing him tomorrow. We then went over to see Jeremy, and we had a pretty decent lesson with him. Lots of talk about faith again. Then we went over and had a lesson with Brother Carr, and we went over another General Conference talk with him. We ended that night teaching Eric's girlfriend Elena. That lesson was a pretty fun one!
Our District Meeting on Wednesday was all about Jesus Christ. Everyone gave a talk on him, and the Spirit was super strong in that room. We also sang "
God Be With You 'Till We Meet Again" because Elder Glines is going home (he goes home tomorrow. That is a crazy thought). After a few things at the apartment, we went and talked with Mario for a few minutes, and then we had a lesson with Geraldine. Then we drove up to Schaumburg, because Brother Filio invited us to have dinner with Elder Glines, as a farewell to him. We all had a lot of fun together.
Thursday morning was just a bit of finding, and that rolled into Weekly Planning in the afternoon. That went for a bit, and after that a was little more finding, and then Splits with the members. I went with Brother Medrano to see Sister Munoz and Brother Carr. At Sister Munoz, we kind of just started to build a relationship, and at Brother Carr we talked a little bit about
Personal Revelation. Good times.
Friday got pretty busy. It didn't start that way, but in the afternoon, We went to teach Ollienna, and she had a cousin and a friend there that we taught. By the end of that lesson though, 3 other people had shown up, so we taught all of them too. I love it when that happens. After that was some finding time, and then we had dinner with the Cerezo's. They had some friends staying with them and a niece of theirs, and we got to teach them. That was pretty interesting, because one guy got really hung up on Grace. We explained it the way we believe it, and he went over how he believes it. In the end, I felt prompted to share with him the talk
"His Grace is Sufficient" by Brad Wilcox, since that one helped me out understand what grace it. He seemed pretty interested in that.
Saturday morning was absolutely fantastic! We got up pretty early, went and picked up Barbara with the Filio's, and then we went to the temple. This was the first time that she had ever been to the temple, and she was going to do
baptisms for the dead. It was so awesome to be there. I also got to be baptized for a few of my ancestors, and I loved it! Thank you so much for those names Mom! We went to lunch after that, and then we threw on some service cloths and went to help out Sister Crawford. She needed her gutters cleaned out, and some bushes trimmed, so we brought the YSA Elders with us and got some work done. That was some fun work. After that, we did a little bit of studies, and then did more service for another member. We were help in her plant a bunch of flowers in her front planters. That was some relaxing work right there. Then we had dinner and we went out to see Brother Valero. Our last appointment was really weird. It was with a part-memeber family, and the Dad was just everywhere, and super rude as well. It happens though.
Sunday was good. Ollienna and her niece Kalea came to church, and they really liked it. Ollienna said that she wants to bring more people with her next time. That would be awesome! We then had lunch at the Santoyo's, and got our studies out of the way. Then dinner, and a planning session with Brother Filio. We have reached 18.03% of our challenge with him so far, and we plan on adding at least another 20% this week. It is going to be tough, but we can do it.(I don't remember if I mentioned this, but if we reach our goal for the challenge, Brother Filio is going to take us on a day trip to Chicago, which will be really cool because he is a travel guide, and he knows a lot of the secret places there.)
Well that it is! It has been a wild ride out here in the Illinois Chicago West Mission. I am super excited to see what awaits me in the new mission, and especially with a new mission President! I know that the Lord works in his timing, and that there is a reason that he sent me to these missions at the times that he has. I know that there are still many children of our Heavenly Father that I still need to reach, and I am going to work my hardest to find them. I hope that Y'all have a most excellent week where ever you are at!
