Working hard, but having fun!

Serving at Seattle Family Discovery Center

Hello Everyone!

This week has been a great one! Monday, I started my service as a Temple Grounds Worker. That day was mostly mowing a couple of the islands around that parking lot, and pulled a bunch of dead plants out of the live ones. Yes, it doesn't sound like much, but that right there was about 5 hours of work.

Tuesday, I didn't have much, except for in the morning. I drove two sets of Elders to the temple that morning, and then I went to the Discovery Center to do some training on the machines in there. That didn't go long enough for the Elders to be done in the temple, so I just went down to the Baptistry and helped out there for an hour.

Wednesday was day two at the temple. The big project for me that say was tidying up around the temple president's house. That was pretty fun. Oh, and also that day, as a side note, we got a new car here, and that has made it so much easier to get to all of the stuff that I have been doing.

Thursday during the day was just doing stuff for me, and then in the evening I did my first official shift in the Discovery Center. I was just there with Brother Cook, and he wasn't really expecting anyone to show up. Then of course, we had two large groups just wander in, and they took up the time for us in the evening. It really was super awesome to see all of their faces light up as they discovered more about their family that they didn't know, and then sharing it with each other. The Discovery Center is such an awesome place, and the Spirit of Elijah is very strong in there.

Friday I was back at the temple, and I worked with Dan  a lot in the morning, and we were taking a bunch of dead plants out of the front area of the temple. Man, some of that stuff was rotting, and it smelled bad! We also moved a bunch of wood from around the temple back to the area it belongs behind the property.

Saturday was really fun. I got to help out my younger brother do his Eagle Project. He is so close to getting his Eagle! He was building signposts for a nature preserve, and they were super grateful for what he was doing for them. Also that evening, a member in my ward invited me to help him with a service that he was a part of, which is preparing and serving  hot meal to homeless people in the area. I had a lot of fun with that one!

Well, that is about it for me this week. I hope that y'all are having a most excellent week wherever you are at!
