We Just Need Elder Figgins to Stop Dying

Elder Figgins and I teaching the 5th Sunday lesson.

Hello Everyone!!

Yeah, my Companion has been pretty sick this week, and it has been affecting the work over here. So, Tuesday, we did a bunch of stop bys, and we actually went out tracting, which we don't do all that often. I think we are going to try it more though in the coming week. Our usual method of finding is street contacting, mostly because that is what we were really told to do more often than tracting. I honestly like it more.

Wednesday, we had a pretty good District Meeting, where we went over the new Chapter 8 to Preach My Gospel, and we got a talk from the Zone Leaders on how we need to be setting more realistic goals for ourselves. So, instead of doing in divide all companionship goals, we came together and made the goals as a Zone, which honestly, makes them look so much ore achievable, and I like it.

We then also managed to get in with one of our investigators that we have been having a hard time getting in with, Neri, and we had a really cool talk with her where we basically just got to know her, and did some testifying. We now just need to get in with her more, and we will be golden. Then, right after that, we went to see Celeste and Meka. Man, they are really progressing! I am super excited for them, especially since we are getting closer to Celeste's baptism.

Thursday was a slow day because of Weekly Planning. We had a bunch of stuff that we had to talk about. Friday was fun, because we got to go out to Ray's house and get a lot more junk out of his garage. We are almost done in there, and we will soon be able to get into his house and really start getting things cleaned out. Then, we went around and tried to find some people, but that did not work out so well.

Things turned around though when we went in for our lesson with Gary. We finally figured out how we are going to get him to progress further! We need him to recognize the prompting of the Spirit, and then that will motivate him to do more, than to just read the Book of Mormon. I mean, I am happy that he is doing that as least, however, if he does not progress soon, we may have to give him some time so that he can read through the Book of Mormon.

Then we came to the weekend. That is when the illness that has been plaguing my companion really hit him. He was unable to get out to do anything both days, which really stunk. So, on Saturday, I went ham on "Jesus the Christ". That is a pretty good book. We then went to help set up for the Halloween party because we were expecting some investigators to show up, and we wanted to make sure that a familiar face greeted them first, and we wanted to introduce them around. Nobody showed up. It kind of disheartened us. But then, who shows up, but John, who was the last person that I expected to come. He came right before they started to clean up, so we were able to get him around a little bit, and talk to him for bit. It was fun!

Sunday was fun. Celeste and Meka came to church again, and they told us that next time, they said they would bring some of Meka's kids with them, which is super exciting! That may bring more of their family into the gospel, which would be super awesome! Then, we had the opportunity to teach the lesson in the 3rd hour of church. That was nerve racking when people were coming in to sit down, but once things got rolling, it was easy. Brother Himiller, our Ward Mission Leader, talked about being prepared physically with things so that we can have missionary moments in our everyday life, and Elder Figgins and I took it to the more Spiritual side. I think we have inspired these members some.

Then, we came back and Elder Figgins died again, so I spent 3 hours cleaning our apartment before a dinner that we had that evening. Man, this place is looking very nice because of that. The dinner mentioned was really fun! One of the member families invited a bunch of their middle-eastern friends over for a diner with us, and we had a good time talking about life an religion with them. It was actually kind of similar to the dinner that we had with Sister Cruz a few weeks ago, just a bit less chaotic.

Well, that is my week in a nutshell. Not a whole lot to write about, but hopefully that will change this week. We just need Elder Figgins to stop dying, and we will be good. Well, I hope that y'all are having a most fantastic week!

At the ward Halloween party

Roadkill. I'm pretty sure I ran over him 2 or 3 times today. (It was a squirrel)
