Toodleloo! The Church Is True! (Aloha Oe Elder Wells)

A breakfast I had one morning that was pretty good. You are probably wondering why the toast is bleeding. I cut out the middle of it and cooked an egg in the middle. It was delightful!(as you can tell by my smiling face)

Transfer 1 Done!

Well technically it is over on Tuesday, but close enough right? I will say though, that this week was a pretty good week. Our investigators is progressing well. Kennith we are teaching really slow so he can understand, but we are glad that he continues to want to meet with us. What we did with him was go over the First Vision again, then an overview of the Plan of Salvation, then we retaught the beginning of the Plan of Salvation. It is an interesting experience to teach him, but it is helping me to learn how to simplify you doctrine down.

We also taught Becky this week. So, in our first lesson with her, we kind of went over how the Bible and the Book of Mormon support each other, and asked her to read Mosiah 4. When we came back for the second visit, she had read Mosiah 1-5, and was super excited to learn more! She is also very accepting of the things that we teach her, which is really cool. We need to get a fellow-shipper for her.

We haven't been able to talk to Peter or Sylvester this week, but we did talk to Jerome (a less-active that lives in the same unit as Peter) and Sessie (Sylvester nephew). We have got Jerome reading in the Book of Mormon again, and he is starting to rekindle his faith. Sessie we have just been doing quick stop-bys for, but he really wants to come to church again. His only problem is needing a ride, which we are going to work on next week.

Thursday this week was a day of service. We went to Restore in the morning, and basically just cleaned the whole back room from top to bottom. It was fun though. Then Sister Williams had us come over to her house, and gave us a big challenge. She opened up her shed, and told us to help her organize it. I am glad we had Jaren with us (who just got his mission call to Thailand!) because man, was that a project. It took us 4 hours to do, and we only finished ONE of the sheds. The other one is smaller though, so hopefully it won't take as long when we go back there. Also, if anyone has a wasp problem, call up Elder Wells. There was one hanging around the shed that we were working in, and he messed that thing up with about half a bottle of hair spray and a shovel. It was kind of funny to watch.

We also went on exchanges with the Finding Assistants on Friday afternoon (after Elder Wells had his Departing Interview) that was a learning experience. See, their job is to help missionaries find as many people as possible that they can teach. I was super glad that I was with Elder Ellis that day though, because we talked to a lot of Spanish people, and he knew the language, and I know nothing. Probably something I should learn while I am out here. But the main thing that I learned from him, is that it is really easy to find people to teach, you just have to talk to everyone to figure out which those people are that you need to teach.

And this Saturday was a good day. It did start out with a memorial service for someone that we met very early on in the transfer, and I am sad that he has passed on. But the awesome thing about the service, is how centered on the Plan of Salvation it was. It is just one of the many things that I love so much about this church. For those who don't know (this is not only my weekly email, but is as well a weekly blog post for everyone to see, so it might be helpful to explain some things) what I am referring to in the Plan of Salvation is our belief in life after death. That is not the whole Plan, just the part I am referencing when I say it here. What that life is though, is that after Christ comes again, we will all be resurrected and have perfected bodies, like the one our Father has. Then we will live with our families for eternity in the presence of our Father. Oh how I love IT!

Anyway, after the service, we tried to do some weekly planning, but Elder Wells was kind of distracted (Who wouldn't be if there 2 years were going to be up in a couple of days?) so not a whole lot got done there. It was fun though. Oh, and Transfer calls happened on Saturday too! As you can guess, Elder Wells is going home and I am getting a new companion. His name is Elder Faimalo, and from the reactions I am getting from other Missionaries, he is a fantastic Elder. I am excited to work with him (Yes, he is a Pacific Islander. He is Samoan, but he is from California currently).

And let me tell you that Sunday was a fantastic day! We had 3 investigators at church, and we got a less-active to come as well. The investigators were Peter, Amy, and Kennith. The less-active was Jerome. All had as great time at the church yesterday, and I was super excited that they all came! So that is about it for this week. We are actually having a barbecue at our apartment with another member and the YSA Elders later, so I will definitely get some pictures of that when it happens. Anyway, Toodleloo! The Church is true! And the Book is blue! Have a great week everyone!

Elder Jensen

PS: I don't have the picture of us at the BBQ unfortunately. I will try and get it though, but that might not even come until next week. Sorry😣.

They had ONE job...

Here are several pictures of the food that we made for our "See you later Elder Wells/Happy One Year Elder Adair"bbq (minus the hot dogs). I am just going to say, that it was awesome! (and the Dew.S.A. was good stuff)
