Promptings, Bikes, and Service

My companion is the one in the middle wearing the black jacket with the white shirt and jeans.  Thought y'all would like to know.

Hello Everyone!

So, I am going to do something  don't normally do, and talk about what happened after Preparation Day, because I think it was freaking amazing. So, we go home to shower and stuff, and I walk out of the shower, and I hear Elder Figgins talking to someone at the door. I am curious at this, so I see who is at the door(after getting dressed of course) and I see this younger lady out there, and she is trying to talk to us about some electric company stuff. We talked with her a little, but then we had to leave to go and help with a blessing.

Right after we finished that, Elder Figgins got a strong prompting that we needed to get home ASAP. So, I tear out of the church parking lot, and we run into our building, and we go all the way to the top, and we started coming down the stairs on the other side, and we found this lady sitting in the stairwell. Her name was Alina, and she is from Moldova. We ended up talking to her for about an hour, and then I came in clutch. So, in my last area, we had a couple of Russian Books of Mormon, and I just took one with me to this area because I wanted to see if I could get back into Russian a little. Whelp, that was not the reason why I brought it here. We told her about the Book of Mormon, and she was interested, but her English wasn't the best, so I bring out this Russian one, and she was excited to have it! Heck yeah! Sadly, she lives about 30 minutes away, and possibly out of our mission, but you know what, I'd say that is a pretty good seed planted, if I do say so myself.

Now on to Tuesday. We were at the church all morning that day because Elder Figgins had to take a test so that he could get his Tiwi card. He was very excited about that, because he likes to drive.

After that, we went and talked with Robert Hall again, and we had another great time with him. We gave him a copy of "The Testaments" this time, and he was really excited to watch that movie. I like that one a lot too. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend it. Then we filled out a bunch of lesson reports, and helped a member move a bunch of her stuff to a new apartment. That place was really nice (which isn't that hard to say when you live in a missionary apartment).

District Meeting the next day was weird. That had us do it all over the video call feature in Messenger. I can see how it would have it's uses in Peoria, but here, we are all so close together it really doesn't make sense to hold meetings that way. Then, our car was taken from us. We have been put into a 3-way car share with two other sets of missionaries (so two cars that rotate between the three sets of Elders). It has been a very long time since I have ridden a bike, and our day was planned out to work if we had the car. So there was a lot of hard biking around our area in the cold wind. I need to get back into that though, because I think that is how this is going to work from now on. Or I will get transferred next week and not have to worry about it.

Thursday was a really fun day. We had service all day, and what we did was sort out a TON of donated food that would get passed out to various soup kitchens, charities, and other people. I had a ton fun doing that. I will actually put a picture with this weekly for once so that y'all can see me and my awesome Zone! I will tell you though, we all had a ton of fun helping these people out, and I am so grateful for this wonderful opportunity that I had on serve my fellow men.

Funny story after that, we got the car back that night, and Elder Miner left his tablet and apartment keys in our car. They had to break into the apartment, because we didn't notice them until after we had gotten back to our place, and with our curfew, there was no way that we were going to make it out there to get that to them. They had to wait until the next morning.

Friday was a little long because we had to do Weekly planning because we didn't get it done on Thursday. We did get to go and help Dan out in his kitchen a little. He is remodeling his house, and we didn't get to do much this time with him because we got distracted with talking, but I am really exited to keep helping him out with this project that he is doing, because honestly doing work like that on a house interest me. I would love to try and get more into that kind of stuff, but that will be after the mission.

Saturday morning stunk, because my Area Book broke, and I had to spend 2 hours with the tech Elders trying to get it fixed. Some days, I really love technology. Then we went to contact a referral that we has gotten, but we couldn't find her address, so we called some Elders out in Colorado Springs to try and figure that out. While they were doing that, our referral called us, and we were able to get the information that way. That was pretty cool.

Then, we got to go down to Naperville for a baptism. This baptism was for an investigator that Elder Figgins had been working with for a really long time, and he had been meeting with the missionaries for 2 years! It was super cool to be there, especially for Elder Figgins.

Sunday was a rough day. So, the night before, there was this very loud group of people outside that was making it very hard for us to sleep. We ended up getting to ward council late, and the during our studies after church, we both fell asleep super fast because we were super tired. But, we had a great dinner that night, so that kind of made up for it.

Well, that is about it for this week! I hope you all have had a most excellent week! Toodleloo!

The place we did service.

Elder Figgins's investigator from Naperville got baptized.  I will have a baptism of my own pretty soon, don't you worry!

I got my hair cut today.

My ghetto quote picture.  It's only ghetto because I took a screenshot of the quote from Gospel Library, then used the photo editing thing on my tablet to just put it on the picture of Jesus.
