My first actual good door approach.

Hello everyone!
I will say that this week has been a pretty good one. We started Tuesday off with scraping old paint off of a nice investigator's fence for a couple of hours. It was fun work, but man was it hot out. We did not get the whole thing done that day, but we went and finished off the scrapping on Saturday. We have been teaching this family about the Plan of Salvation during these visits, and we are going to probably have a recap lesson with them next time to make sure they understand what we taught them.
On Wednesday, we got to meet the new missionaries in our District/Zone. In our District, we did not get any brand new missionaries, but that is ok. Just some veterans that got transferred out to our Zone.
Also on Wednesday, we practiced singing the Star-Spangled Banner. Why do you ask? We are going to be singing that at an interfaith baseball night for the Kane County Cougars game tonight, and President Griffen will get to throw the first pitch! I am super excited to do that tonight!
So after that we headed right into Aurora to find new people to teach, but we basically had 3 or 4 hours of just being rejected. That kind of stunk, but we did find one person right at the end of our night that did talk to us, and she was interested because she has a friend in the church, and just wanted to get a few of her questions answered. We are going to try and meet with her later this week.
Thursday was Restore day, and we worked with Miguel to cut up a bunch of carpet, and we had a really good gospel discussion with him while we worked. I don't know if anything will come out of that, but at least he has had some good contact with the church if he ever decides in the future that he would like to learn.
Also on Thursday, we had a talk with a missionary that served in this area before us and got a bunch of good info from him on people hat we were trying to visit and other families that we should visit. That was super helpful. We ended that night with another fantastic discussion with Brock and Marie. They are some of the most solid investigators that we have out here right now, and I love them so much!
Friday was a SUPER slow day. It was hot out, and we just walked around trying to find people, with no success. It was not fun, and Elder Faimalo and I were not particularly fond of that day. However, Saturday was much better, so that was good. I think the coolest part of that day was my first actual good door approach. SO, normally, I get super nervous knocking on doors, and I hate trying to talk to people in general because I just feel super awkward doing it. This time though, it felt like the Spirit led me to a place where I could really build on that confidence. I saw this really cool car in this guy's driveway, and I just thought to myself "Why not." and I went to knock on his door. You could tell by his face that he wasn't too happy about us being there, but I just started asking him questions about his car, and he lightened up a lot. We spent a couple minutes on that, then told him our purpose as missionaries. He wasn't interested in hearing anything at that time because he was about to head out, but he said he made be interested at a later time. That was good enough for me! That though just felt like the best contact that I have had on my mission so far, and I want to try your an see if I can get more like that one to work.
Sunday was a pretty nice day. We got to hear a talk from a departing missionary, who will be going to California, and will be speaking Mong (I think that is one it is spelled.). He seems like he is gong to be a super solid missionary out there. There is as another kid who just got his (mission) call to Texas, but I can't member where his mission is there. So many missionaries! Well, I think that is about all for this week. Now I need to go and prep my voice to sing tonight at the game. Have fun y'all!
